Working at the Mission

Staff at the Auckland City Mission provide professional services to Auckland's most marginalised - the homeless, the elderly, families and individuals in crises, and clients with addictions. The Mission employs a wide range of staff who, in some services, provide support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

Direct Marketing Fundraiser, Full Time

Auckland City Mission helps people in desperate need by providing excellent integrated services and effective advocacy. We strive to measurably improve our clients' well-being and health, and contribute to sustained social change.

The fundraising team is an integral part of the Auckland City Mission, every cent we raise helps us support people in genuine need; without a strong fundraising team, the Auckland City Mission would not exist. We need a fundraising professional to focus on the production of direct marketing appeals, donor communications and trust applications. Your primary focus would be to help co-ordinate cash appeals to the Mission's existing donor database and create the necessary marketing materials to maximise income from existing supporters. Within a small developed team you will work closely with an experienced manager and contribute to a range of projects that make a huge impact at a recognised Auckland charity.


We are looking for a talented and ambitious person with the following skills and qualities:

- Experience of working on direct marketing appeals
- Strong copywriting skills
- The ability to work under budgetary and time pressure
- A flexible approach and the ability to work well in a team environment.

The role is ideally suited to somebody keen to develop their career within fundraising.

 

This is a full time permanent position based at our main office on Hobson Street.

Alcohol and Other Drug Professional (Casual)


Based in our Federal Street site, you will be responsible for the assessment and supervision of clients withdrawing from alcohol and drugs. As well as supervising support staff and volunteers, you will also work with other services both within the City Mission, as well as external service providers.

 

 

The scope of the work includes admission, care and discharge of clients, facilitating groups, and one-on-one work, and you will join an existing team of qualified Alcohol & Drug professionals. Key attributes and qualifications are as follows:

 

 

·         A relevant qualification in alcohol and other drug studies, social work (specialising in AOD), or similar

·         A proactive and independent approach

·         The ability to work collaboratively in a team based environment

 

 

This is a relief (casual) position to provide cover for permanent staff on an as and when required basis. The service operates seven days a week, and the usual shifts are 7am – 3:30pm; 3pm – 11pm.

You will require a full driver's license and be able to drive a manual car. DAPAANZ Registration is preferred. Please apply if you are passionate about the sector, and wish to explore opportunities in Auckland's only social detox environment.

Stores/Warehouse Person, Full Time

We are currently looking for a full time Store Person/Warehouse Person to join our Distribution Service team in Grafton.

You will be responsible for the following:

-Receiving, sorting and packing of donated goods.

- Packing up of food parcels for our Foodbank.

- Making up Food Bank orders.

- Storing and stocktaking of goods.

- Assisting other staff in the area.

Position may involve some heavy lifting and moving furniture.

You must be reliable, well presented, be prepared to work as part of a team, and have a clean criminal record and full NZ driver licence (ideally with an F endorsement).

General Practitioner - Part Time or Full Time

The Mission's medical centre, The Calder Centre, is looking to employ an experienced Full-Time General Practitioner. This is an excellent opportunity for medical professionals who would like to take a new challenge in their career.

We provide medical services to clients from all walks of life, some of whom present with complex medical, mental health and social issues.We are seeking positive, confident, energetic and experienced medical professionals with great people skills.The environment can be challenging and demanding, so you will need to have the ability to work efficiently under pressure, “think on your feet” and to be able to engage well with a wide range of people including those with challenging behaviours.You will need excellent computer and MedTech 32 skills, must be eligible to work in New Zealand and must hold a current New Zealand Practicing Certificate. Being a fellow of NZRCGP would be an advantage.
