Foodlink

Nutritious food is fundamental to building healthy communities and need is not just restricted to those able to visit the Mission. There are thousands in the community who require a little assistance from time to time and there are hundreds of smaller community groups who work to help these people.

To assist these community groups Auckland City Mission receives bulk food donations, re-packs them and distributes them to community foodbanks between Thames and Kaitaia. Foodlink, regularly supplies food to another 60 food banks and community groups across the region. On average the Auckland City Mission distributes an estimated $2,000,000 worth of food every year.

Auckland City Mission Emergency Food Parcels are distributed directly by Mission staff from the Hobson St and Otahuhu offices.

Dependent on donations:

Auckland City Mission's community food programme, Foodlink, relies entirely on donations and frequently has a short fall of basic food items, such as rice, pasta, canned food, etc. The programme provides a means to ensure a company’s generosity is spread across the Auckland community not just focused on one organisation.

Having regular suppliers of key products would allow the Mission to direct financial resources to other areas and allow for more food banks and organisations to be included in the Community Food Programme.
