Auckland City Mission Board of Trustees

Auckland City Mission works with a Board of voluntary Trustees who meet once a month to provide governance and support.

John Button, Chair:

John is Managing Director of the wholesale distribution company, R.L. Button & Co. Ltd. A long-standing member of the Auckland City Mission board, John was also a member of the Workforce Auckland Incorporated board for 20 years - 17 of those as Chair. He has been an active member of Rotary for many years.

John has been an Auckland City Mission board member since 1992 and is also a member of the Mission's Capital Foundation board.


The Right Reverend Ross Bay

Ross was ordained and installed as Bishop of Auckland on April 17 2010.

Ross was raised in Auckland and grew up attending local schools in Papatoetoe. He became the Vicar of St Mark's Church, Remuera, in 2001 and was appointed Archdeacon of Auckland in 2006. Ross was installed as the 8th Dean of Auckland in November 2007 and was also Vicar-General of the Diocese.

The Board welcomes Bishop Ross Bay to the Auckland City Mission in June 2010.


William Somerville:

William is a Lawyer and Accountant, who retired as a Partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 2003. He had previously held roles both with major law firms and an international film company. William is a Trustee of the Melanesian Trust, New Zealand Film Commission and Artspace.

William has been an Auckland City Mission Board Member since 2000. He is also a member of the Auckland City Mission's Capital Foundation.


Mary Whaley:

Mary has been a solicitor for more than 30 years and is now a Legal Consultant.  She has also been a Vestry Member at All Saints, Ponsonby for 30 years.

An Auckland City Mission Board member since 1993, Mary is also a member of the Mission in the City Project Control Group.


Mike O'Brien:

A Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Social Work at Massey University's Albany campus. Previously, Mike has been a Social Worker in the areas of child welfare, the elderly and the mentally ill.

Mike has been an Auckland City Mission Board member since 1996.


Reverend Jim White:

Dean of St John's Theological College, Reverend Jim White was appointed to the Auckland City Mission Board on an interim basis in January 2009.


Diane Robertson

Diane holds a dual role as Chief Executive and Trustee.
