Volunteering - UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Regular volunteers

Up to 75 volunteers work on a regular basis at the Auckland City Mission. They are involved with a variety of tasks including: helping at Drop-In; assisting in the New Beginnings shops; taking clients to appointments and activities; and assisting with administration and general maintenance.

Regular volunteers have the same rights and responsibilities as staff and are expected to undergo similar recruitment screening including police checks.

Regular volunteers must be over 18 years of age.

If you are interested in finding out more about opportunities to volunteer on a regular basis, please contact HR by email or phone: 303 9204.

Group Volunteers - Corporate or community:

Hundreds of people volunteer at the Mission every year as part of a corporate or community group. Group volunteers are most often engaged in tasks involving general maintenance, cleaning, administration, donation sorting or food packing. This may take place at the main Hobson street site, the distribution warehouse or at the Otahuhu office. Opportunities do not generally exist for group volunteers to work directly with clients.

Please note: all volunteers should be over the age of 18 years.

Group volunteers are booked a minimum of two weeks in advance. To register your group email Sophie with your contact details, number of volunteers, preferred times and dates.

Group volunteer opportunities are currently fully booked.  New bookings from October 2010 onwards. (Updated 12 August 2010.)

Street Appeal volunteers:

Auckland City Mission is reliant on fundraising to cover the costs of much of the support it provides.

The Mission's annual Street Appeal makes a significant contribution to Christmas fundraising and is totally dependant on volunteer assistance.

The 2010 Street Appeal will take place on Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th of December in Takapuna, Newmarket and Auckland CBD.

If you can help for an hour or more on either of these days, please email James.
