Helping Aucklanders
in Desperate need

From The Missioner

From the Missioner

Auckland City Missioner, Chris Farrelly, would like to express his deep gratitude to the people of Auckland for the way in which they support the Mission, not only at Christmas but throughout the year.

“The Mission is the hands, heart and conscience of our city and this is never more evident than at Christmas time. The Mission reaches capacity in the lead up to Christmas and it is only the fantastic support of the community that enables us to be able to provide for all those families turning up at our door.  During my time as City Missioner I have been amazed by the kindness and generosity shown to the Mission. I think every Aucklander should be very proud to live in a city that shows such compassion and generosity to its most vulnerable residents. I want to thank you all and wish you a happy 2018. We look forward to continuing our tradition of serving our city over the next twelve months.”

Chris took up his appointment on June 1st, 2016.

Prior to coming to the City Mission, Chris had been CEO of Manaia Health PHO, in Northland for 13 years.

Chris has a long history in health management and also spent 10 years working with a community development programme in a South Korean Slum.

He has a Master of Theology degree from Berkeley USA, and a Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution from Massey University.  His interest and involvement in conflict resolution and mediation includes membership of Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and Resolution Institute.

Chris is often in the news. Advocacy on behalf of those who are vulnerable or may be marginalised is a key function of the Auckland City Mission, and this page will keep you up to date on the Missioner’s thinking around important social issues.
