Our values
As we begin our next century of support, the Mission is committed to become a great Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner, embracing all that means. The Mission is blessed with a Māori name – Te Tāpui Atawhai. To honour that name, we formally became a place where two people belong, and recognised our place in the restoration needed to move forward as one country of two founding peoples.
To find out more about how the Mission supports people, please check out our What we do section.
We promise to continue our work for 100 years to come, truly honouring our city, our country as a place founded by two peoples.
Together we stand with those in desperate need. We provide immediate relief and pathways to enable long-term wellbeing.
Hospitality
Manaakitanga is behaviour that acknowledges the mana of others as having equal or greater importance than one’s own, through the expression of aroha, hospitality, generosity and mutual respect.
Justice
Committed to equity, and seeking dignity for all. We will fearlessly advocate with and for those who are going without.
Partnership
We recognise the principle of partnership within Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Our commitment to this stems from our belief that manaakitanga, equity and social justice need to be pursued both within partnerships and through them. For us, partnerships are bonded by mutual trust, integrity, respect, transparency and commitment.
