Residential services

The residential service keeps our transitional housing facilities running, providing support to our residents around the clock. At Te Whare Hīnātore and James Liston Hostel, people are supported in their transition from homelessness or unstable accommodation to sustainable and permanent housing by our team members in their roles as support workers, key workers, AOD specialists, psychotherapists and more.

Street to home

Food security

While they do wider work aiming to address the cause of food insecurity in our country, the food security team also works to address the most obvious symptom – hunger. Our skilled team of community connectors and food procurement experts work together to assess the needs of people reaching out, and to ensure a steady supply of food to fill the more than 50,000 food parcels we give out each year.

Health

Our health roles fall within two key areas, our Calder Health Centre and our Social Detox unit. The Calder Health Centre provides general medical care for some of Auckland’s most vulnerable people. We look for nurses, general practitioners and other medical professionals who are keen to make a difference for our patients who access the medical centre at a rate three times higher than the national average. Our Social Detox unit provides a unique service in Tāmaki Makaurau - Auckland, a safe, supportive environment for people to detox from addiction. The team is made up of support workers, AOD specialists and community workers who provide 24/7 support while our detox residents take 14 days to commit to their recovery.
