GROUP opportunities 

Each year we engage hundreds of volunteers at the Mission as part of a corporate, community or whanau group. We NEED your help year round in both our Distribution Centre and Haeata Community Centre.

Our distribution centre is located in Grafton. Group volunteers most often participate in packing emergency food parcels. for struggling families, or sorting donated clothing and household items. This activity is suitable for groups of 3 – 10. The distribution centre is open Monday to Saturday and groups can volunteer as follows:

Haeata Community Centre is the heart of the homeless community providing essential meal services everyday of the year. Group Volunteers can help by working alongside our chef to make, prepare and pack food for our paper bag lunch service. This opportunity is ideal for small groups of 5 0r 6.

We understand that free time is precious! Our online volunteer management system allows you the freedom to choose your shifts when you are available. To participate in our volunteer programme you are required to apply online. The roles outlined below are available year round. With the exception of Retail Assistants volunteers are required to be 18 years or over.

Haeata Breakfast Service

Work alongside our chef to prepare and serve food to the homeless community. Breakfast operates 7 days a week and we seek 5 – 7 regular volunteers to lend us a hand everyday. This activity involves general kitchen duties, such as basic food preparation, food service, dishes, cleaning, restocking breakfast items and stacking shelves. Shifts are from 7.30am – 11.30am.

Mission Op Shops | Retail Assistants

Help the mission turn donated clothing and household items into much needed revenue. Use your free time to gain valuable retail and customer service work experience. Minimum age requirement 16 years. Set shifts, flexible days, 4 locations across Auckland.

Distribution Assistants  (Grafton Location)

This role offers a variety of activities from packing essential food parcels, assisting drivers with pick ups and deliveries, sorting clothing and donated household items. It is an exciting and busy environment, no two days are the same. A good level of physical fitness is required for this role as it involves heavy lifting and standing on your feet for long periods of time.

Food Bank Assistants (Grafton Location) 

Assist our food service team to distribute food parcels to the community. This role is Monday to Friday with both morning and afternoon shifts. A good level of physical fitness is required for this role as it involves heavy lifting and standing on your feet for long periods of time.
