GROUP opportunities 

Each year we engage hundreds of volunteers at the Mission as part of a corporate or community group. We NEED your help year round in both our Distribution Centre and Haeata Community Centre.

Our distribution centre is located in Grafton. Group volunteers most often participate in packing emergency food parcels. for struggling families, or sorting donated clothing and household items. This activity is suitable for groups of 3 – 8. The distribution centre is open Monday to Saturday and groups can volunteer as follows:

Haeata Community Centre is the heart of the homeless community providing essential meal services everyday of the year. Group Volunteers can help by working alongside our chef to make, prepare and pack food for our paper bag lunch service. This opportunity is ideal for small groups of 5 or 6 volunteers. This is a non client facing role.

There is no cost involved in volunteering with us but a koha or in kind donations ie: office collections are warmly welcomed.


We understand that free time is precious! Our online volunteer management system allows you the freedom to choose your shifts when you are available. To participate in our volunteer programme you are required to apply online. The roles outlined below are available year round. With the exception of Retail Assistants volunteers are required to be 18 years or over.

Haeata Breakfast Service – We are fortunate to have all the help we need for our meal service. Applications for this opportunity are currently on hold. 

Mission Op Shops | Retail Assistants

Help the mission turn donated clothing and household items into much needed revenue. Use your free time to gain valuable retail and customer service work experience. Minimum age requirement 16 years. Set shifts, flexible days and hours. 4 locations; Grafton, Glen Innes, K-Road, Takapuna.

Distribution Assistants – We are fortunate to have all the help we need for this service. Applications for this opportunity are currently on hold.

Food Bank Assistants (Grafton Location) 

Assist our food service team to distribute food parcels to the community. This role is Monday to Friday with both morning and afternoon shifts available. A good level of physical fitness is required for this role as it involves some heavy lifting and standing on your feet for long periods of time.

NB: Please note that all volunteers are subject to criminal history check or police vetting. Further information will be supplied once your application has been completed.
