Each year we engage hundreds of volunteers at the Mission as part of a corporate or community group. We need your help year round in both our Distribution Centre and Haeata Community Centre.

Our distribution centre is located in Grafton. Group volunteers most often participate in packing emergency food parcels for struggling families, or sorting donated clothing and household items. The distribution centre is open Monday to Saturday and groups can volunteer between 9.00am – 3.30pm. This activity is suitable for groups from 3 – 15, a minimum of 3 hours is required and where possible we recommend a 9am start.

Distribution FAQ’s and how to book

Group volunteers help provide our essential daily meal service in our Haeata Community kitchen, onsite at 23 Union St. Volunteers help by preparing food for serving, serving food to our Homeless Community, and cleaning before, during and after service. Opportunities are available for smaller groups of 5 – 6.   Volunteer timings are 11:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays and 1.00pm to 6.00pm on weekends.

Thank you to our wonderful corporate team volunteers and wider community organisations for lending a hand in 2019, our group volunteer opportunities are FULL this side of Christmas, we look forward to working with you all again in 2020!



Every year we host over 1,600 families for Christmas lunch in Auckland, where we provide a place for people to come and enjoy some food and festivities at a time when they need it the most… and we need your help!

Thank you Auckland! We have now filled ALL 500 roles for Christmas Day! We couldn’t deliver this important service to the community without you!



Retail Assistants

Seeking customer service stars to work in our K-Road and Glen Innes Opportunity Shops. This role involves customer service and sales as well as merchandise presentation. Hours by negotiation. Minimum age requirement 16 years.

Distribution Assistants

Seeking reliable people available on a regular basis to assist in our Distribution Centre located in Grafton. This roles offer a variety of activities from packing food parcels, assisting drivers with pick ups and deliveries, sorting clothing and donated household items. A good level of physical fitness is required.
